Salone del Mobile, the Milan Furniture Fair 2022, has just wrapped its 60th furniture exposition. Held annually in Milan, Salone del Mobile is the largest trade fair of its kind in the world.
The 2,100 exhibitioners showcased the latest in furniture and design from countries around the world, spreading across 20 halls in the Rho Fiera and spilling into the streets and installations across the city.
Sustainability emerged as one of the biggest global trends this year, with designers coming up with interesting new ways to streamline production processes, making more use of recyclable components creating earth friendly products more easily disposable.
A strong desire to get back to nature was reflected everywhere.
After two years of hibernation, indoors and outdoors merged effortlessly and embraced new materials and production processes, softer forms with less structure, and a distinct focus on durability for the future of home living.
Hues drawn from the natural environment met metallics, precious metals, exotic woods, and rare marbles; decorative layers of lacquer, artworks, mirrors and engaging organic shapes, patterns and textures enlivened spaces and made bold statements.
On his return from the hustle and bustle, Maurizio described the mood in Milano as “luxe”…a way of expressing the senses, emotions, a luxurious and sumptuous style with hints of opulence.
With attendance of over 262,000 visitors in six days, this year’s event confirmed that Salone del Mobile in Milano remains a prominent influence on the global architecture and design industry.
